Two Famous Superheroes have found their Lead Actors

Benedict Cumberbatch will be Dr. Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch will play Stephen Strange or Dr. Strange in Doctor Strange released November 5th, 2016. Cumberbatch is known for Sherlock Holmes from BCC’s Sherlock. Sherlock is eccentric, arrogant, and intelligent. Benedict Cumberbatch is plays Alan Turing in the Imitation Game. Imitation Game is in limited release at the moment but Cumberbatch is getting Oscar buzz for his role.  Personally, I applaud Marvel Studios for intention to get high quality actors like Cumberbatch or Michael Douglas to play Hank Pym in the upcoming Ant-Man film. Douglas has an academy award to his name. I could see Michael Douglas appearing in a Dr. Strange movie.  Hank Pym and Stephen Strange would be two of the Marvel Universe’s top scientific minds and are friends in the comics.   Who is Dr. Strange?

Doctor Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme. He actually was a brilliant neurosurgeon with a giant ego. He drives off a cliff and wastes his fortune on finding a cure to heal his hand which are almost paralyzed.  Strange hears of a man who has the power to heal and seeks him out in the Tibetan Mountains.  He meets the Ancient One who teaches him humility, the principles of magic, and pass on the title of Sorcerer Supreme.  Dr. Strange controls all aspects of Magic. He shoots lightening bolts from his hands or has the power to heal almost anyone but saving them from death mystically endangers the world at great cost. He can shield people with his thoughts, or has the ability to astral phase from plane to plane. He and another Sorcerer Baron Mordo, a primary enemy of his, have had mental battles across dimensions. His arch nemesis is Dormammu. (Clip below is from the animated Spider-man series from the 90s).

Ok, Why is introducing Dr. Strange a great move for Marvel. Doctor Strange faces Demons, Vampire, or other paranormal creatures. The film will be a horror movie…more like action horror. Doctor Strange might be facing demon like creatures in this movie. However, Dr. Strange’s world sets up the possibility of introducing other mystical and supernatural characters from the Marvel Universe. Doctor Voodoo, Ghost Rider, or Blade appearing in a future Dr. Strange film is not out of the realm of possibly.

Ryan Reynolds is going to play Deadpool again in the stand alone film!

 Around 2012, there were rumor dates of a Deadpool movie coming out. Deadpool is one of Marvel’s most popular comic book characters. He is a big smart ass and constantly likes to break the fourth wall. (Fourth Wall is a imaginary wall between the audience and fictional character). Ryan Reynolds portrayed Deadpool in a X-Men: Wolverine Origins.  (the video below is the behind of the scenes footage of X-Men: Wolverine Origins about Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds. Ingore the last 4 minutes because that is not Deadpool which is one of the reasons why fans revolted against the film).

X-Men: Wolverine Origins was awful which set back the development of X-men characters and helped spur a reboot in 2011, X-Men First Class. Fans were upset with Origins and the critics didn’t like that much. It took 4 years for Origins to get a sequel, and the sequel was good but it was only about Wolverine. Deadpool was positively received in Origins so fans and film pundits wanted to see Ryan Reynolds to come back as Deadpool.  Thursday, Fox announced that Ryan Reynolds will be returning as Deadpool coming to a theater near you on February 12th, 2016. (two days after my birthday).  The reason why the Deadpool movie has gained wind because the leak test footage. (it is shown below and this actually Deadpool.)

Tim Miller is set to direct it and the creators of Deadpool wrote the script and story.

Deadpool is a mutant. He has accelerated healing, skilled artial artist, and a mercenary for hire. He kills people and drops F bombs.  He is beloved by many. I play a facebook game with Marvel Heroes called Marvel Avengers Alliance, and Deadpool breaks the fourth in that game. He surfs the web when other characters are taking turns and something bugs players to force to refresh and not use their abilities. Deadpool is a fun character, and it could the start of the X-Force which a hero named Cable is the leader. Cable is an extremely popular X-Men character. I suggest you look up Deadpool clips from his video or use watch mojo about who the character is.

Hello Suicide Squad plus the Joker!

Warner Bros. is putting Marvel, Sony, and Fox on alert that they are ready to play ball!

So far, Warner Bros has been heavily criticized on how they handle their DC superhero properties compared to Marvel.  The criticism has been fair because Marvel is almost on its phase 3 with introducing Dr. Strange, Black Panther, the Inhumans, and Captain Marvel. However. Warner Bros announced their DC slate not to long ago and they are continuously stock piling acting talent for their key roles.  Warner will introduce the first Black Superhero first with Cyborg in Batman V. Superman, have a Wonder Woman movie before Marvel’s Captain Marvel movie, and have a villain team up movie before Sony’s Sinister Six movie.  Warner Bros might be fashionable late to the party but they are introducing their characters first. Yesterday, Warner Bros and DC announced the cast for Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad is a team of villains under the command of Amanda Waller who take out bad guys or take on dangerous missions for the government in order to get a reduced sentences or full pardons. Warner Bros. has said this movie will be like the Dirty Dozen. They have kind of officially announced that Deadshot will be the leader of the team. David Ayers, director of Fury, wrote the screenplay and will direct the film.   Who are the characters that we will see in this movie?

Smith will play Deadshot

Deadshot is known as Deadshot because he is a master marksmen that never misses. He is an assassin for hire who has a sense of honor. He will not kill anybody but his target usually. However, if a cop or some other hero were to stand in between his target and his line of sight. Deadshot can manipulate a trajectory of a bullet to hit his target. He kills to pay for his daughter’s medical bills. Will Smith needs this role because he has been mostly crap since he did Hancock. Smith will bring a cold likeable charm to his master marksmen.

Tom Hardy will play Rick Flagg

Rick Flagg is not a supervillain.  He is a master tactician and strategist, expert on explosives, and very good marksmen. I believe this version of the Rick Flagg will be a leader of the team but will the go to guy to get new weapons or surveillance equipment. He will help the team navigate on their mission. He is the most vulnerable member of the team.  Flagg still can kick ass in hand to hand combat when he needs to.  Hardy is one of the best actors in Hollywood right now. He will make Rick Flagg be important because of his charismatic.

Jai Courtney will play Captain Boomerang

Digger Harkness is the man who is known as Captain Boomerang. He is Australian but his specialty are his boomerangs which are his weapons.  His Boomerang are a lot like the Batarangs which have special capabilities. They are can penetrate the Batsuit and or follow the Flash at high speeds. Courtney is a upcoming action star who is from Australia. He will be Kyle Reese in Terminator Genesis and that movie will be coming out next summer.

Cara Delevinge will play the Enchantress

Enchantress is a powerful sorceress. She appears to possess the ability to manipulate magical energy for any number of effects, from healing to teleportation, and can directly affect any non-living objects with her magic. She can also walk through walls. She is a member of the Suicide Squad for keeping her evil side in check.  Personality, I applaud DC and Warner Bros. for bringing in their magic universe into their film universe already. Wonder Woman fights magical enemies as does Dr. Fate, Zatanna, or even Constantine. Delevinge doesn’t have  a big acting resume so she is an unknown.

Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn. As the Joker likes to say Harley Harley Harley multiple times

Margot Robbie is the second big fish in this movie. Will Smith is a big movie star and playing most likely the leader of the team but Robbie is playing almost the fan favorite. Harley Quinn is a character transcends any other character in this movie besides one other character. She is the Joker’s girlfriend or wife depending on what version of the comic you are reading. She has a likeable charm, is a psychopath, and has no problems in being seductive to stab a person in a back.   Robbie has gained frame from her role in Wolf of Wall Street. I didn’t like the movie so I can tell if she is going to be a good Harley Quinn. I do believe the fact she looks like Harley Quinn is one of the reasons why Robbie was cast. The Hollywood casting brass will tell you that Robbie has talent so I am not going on a fanboy about how she is awful. I mean she is no Gal Gadot after all.

Jared Leto will be the Joker or Mister J. as Harley calls him. She even calls him Pudding.

The Joker is the big fish of his movie. I don’t care if Lex Luthor might be in it or rumor Oprah is being considered for Amanda Waller. Waller is the commander of the Suicide Squad. The Joker is the household name. He is so beloved by many that they can’t screw him up. I do believe the Joker will be the bad guy. They will go get him because Lex Luthor wants to use him to kill Batman. The announcement gives a sense how Batman V. Superman will end. The two heroes will become friends and will decide to work together but Lex Luthor’s hatred of Superman will cause to find another villain who can take down Batman. There’s the key, The Joker is really super villain who ultimately break the will of Batman. It will be curious to see how the other villains will fit in or like this plan.  I’m Leto’s Joker will be more like Mark Hamil’s take from the Batman Arkham Games.

Overall, I like the cast annoucement of the Suicide Squad. I think the esemble cast will deliver and the movie comes out August 5th, 2016.

Brandon Routh cast as the Atom for Arrow Season 3

Who is the Atom?

Brandon Routh, who played Superman in Superman Returns in 2006, is now taking the mantle of another superhero, The Atom.  He will be playing Ray Palmer in Arrow’s season three.  The press release from Warner Bros. Television states:

Routh is set to play the recurring role of Ray Palmer, also known as The Atom, in the show’s third season. His character is a scientist and inventor that will have an unexpected yet mysterious role in the lives of Oliver and Felicity.

A few other reports indicated that he will be in the applied sciences division of Queen Consolidated. It is implied so he will be a love interest for Felicity Smoak. The poor girl is 0-2 in the love department in the show’s history (Barry Allen has Iris and Oliver is too much of a playboy for her).  Felicity does need a nerdy science guy.  Who is the Atom?

The Atom is a superhero who can change his molecular size and density. Ray Palmer experimented with white Dwarf star matter in his lab discovering that he can shrink or enlarge his physical appearance.  The Atom is one of the most powerful superheroes in the DC universe. The reason being that he can alter molecular makeup. His utility belt allows him access to equipment that helps him in special situations.  He also can guide through the air and punch through a concrete wall.

The Atom is a character that never gets a lot of face time in the comics or media. It is one of the reasons why this casting is exciting. The writers of Arrow not bound by comic book lore. They can alter the character and make him fit their universe. Brandon Routh is a talented actor. He did get bad press for Superman Returns but it wasn’t his fault. Personally it was a good movie. The box office wasn’t there for Warner Bros but 400 million dollars is nothing to cry about either. His casting will bring in more people into the fold to watch the show.  Arrow returns on Oct 8th at 8 PM Est.

Side Note: On Justice League Unlimited he appears in several episodes; The Return, Dark Heart, and Clash. It is animated cartoon series which is on Netflix.

Well, we officially know that Lex Luthor and Alfred will be in Man of Steel 2. The fan movie internet-sphere went crazy today.  Fans seem to love the Alfred casting, and I love it too.  Jeremy Irons is a great talented actor who’s brilliant in anything he has been in.  He’s the villain from Die Hard 3 and the voice of Scar from the Lion King.  He’s also an Academy Award winning actor for his role in Reversal of Fortune. His version of Alfred will might better than Michael Caine’s version.   It’s to talk about Jesse Eisenberg who is going to play Superman’s ironic nemesis.

Jesse Eisenberg is one of the most brilliant young actors in Hollywood. He was great as a genius that had no friends and untrustworthy of others in the Social Network. He was very funny in Zombieland and displayed an arrogance in Now You See me.  He also has a movie coming out in March called The Double.  He is basically a man who sees a doppelganger take his life away in the film.  Jesse will be able to pull off the arrogance, the lack of mistrust of people, and the devilish cunning of Lex Luthor. Lex Luthor is an allegory on Man’s World of being overconfident, mistrusting, and intelligence can destroy you if you have a ego the size as Saturn.  I like what Warner Bros.  has decided to do with Lex Luthor is make him younger and hopefully he’ll have hair in this movie. I wanted to see a young Superman take on a younger Lex Luthor like in Smallville.  Jesse did win a golden globe for his part in Social Network. He was such a creeper in the movie too. Zack Synder, the director,  is going for a younger Luthor who will publicly renounce Superman. I could see a few lines of the movie being “I’m 31 and run a multibillion dollar company who said humanity is not as superior as Superman. Why should we worship a false god? Human race is making strides everyday for our own evolution so don’t expect me to bow down to the Big Blue Boy Scout wearing the tights like ballerina.”  Jesse has already displayed arrogance as an actor to have some witty dialogue with Batman an Superman. He has this deceptiveness about him as an actor to make Lex Luthor amazing.

My opinion is that Man of Steel 2, or whatever it’s call, has become a better movie with the talent it just casted. Alfred might not have a big part but Jeremy Irons will surely kick ass in the film.  Lex Luthor will probably be in most of the movie along with Batman and Superman. I don’t know what Lex’s role is but i could see defense contractor for the Government or any number of ways the filmmakers and actor could portray him.  I’m super-hyped about this casting that my energy levels have crashed.
